The Science of Getting Rich By Wallace D. Wattles

Product Description

As featured in the bestselling book The Secret, here is the landmark guide to wealth creation republished with the classic essay "How to Get What You Want."

Wallace D. Wattles spent a lifetime considering the laws of success as he found them in the work of the world's great philosophers. He then turned his life effort into this simple, slender book - a volume that he vowed could replace libraries of philosophy, spirituality, and self-help for the purpose of attaining one definite goal: a life of prosperity.

Wattles describes a definite science of wealth attraction, built on the foundation of one commanding idea: "There is a thinking stuff from which all things are made...A thought, in this substance, produces the thing that is imaged by the thought."

In his seventeen short, straight-to-the-point chapters, Wattles shows how to use this idea, how to overcome barriers to its application, and how work with very direct methods that awaken it in your life. He further explains how creation and not competition is the hidden key to wealth attraction, and how your power to get rich uplifts everyone around you.

The Science of Getting Rich concludes with Wattle's rare essay "How to Get Want You Want" - a brilliant refresher of his laws of wealth creation.

From AudioFile
Wattless book, first published in 1910, jumps into the present with the help of Eliza Fosss hip reading. Her voice sounds youthful yet educated, relaxed yet firmly engaged with the core of the lesson. The writing of this era is a delight--confident, erudite, precise. The nonsectarian spiritual component will elevate listeners intentions and encourage their faith in the message. The author says that visualizing, thinking, and doing things in a certain way are the tools we need to create the abundant life we deserve. He is especially lucid regarding the correct use of the will, which should be used not to control others, but to direct our own thoughts and actions toward the future of wealth we desire. Artful Persuasion: How to Command Attention, Change Minds, and Influence People by Harry Mills

Product Description

Fresh insights and practical guidelines peel away the mystery behind the elusive art of persuasion.

There's really nothing mysterious about getting people to change their minds. No special, inborn gifts. No subliminal tricks. Instead, the best persuaders--advertisers, salespeople, politicians, spin doctors--depend on the fact that everyone responds to messages in just two ways: thoughtfully or mindlessly. And they know how to manipulate these two persuasion routes to make even the most doubtful say "yes."

Jam-packed with fascinating case studies and surprising examples, this comprehensive, entertaining how-to guide puts the powerful tool of persuasion at anyone's disposal. It explains: * How the master persuaders--the Churchills, Lincolns, and Roosevelts--create powerful, memorable messages that convince people of their arguments' logic and rightness * How successful persuaders exploit the psychological triggers that cause people to subconsciously move from "no" to "yes."

Entertaining & Valuable5
I never imagined a self-improvement book could be so entertaining. I literally couldn't pull myself away from this book, reading the entire book in one sitting!

Not having read the other "Influence" book recommended in Amazon's reviews, I can't objectively comment; however, I can say that "Artful Persuasion" is without question the most interesting and enjoyable of all self-improvement books I've read.

Knowledge Deployment 101 - 1034
Artful Persuasion is a compilation of tips, tricks and wisdom on how to persuade others, change their minds, align, and influence people favourably.
Just shy of 300 pages, Harry Mills introduces and expounds on the topic through chapters divided into 'Thoughtful Persuasion' (credibility, impressions, talking, asking targeted messaging. et cetra) and 'Mindless Influence' (contrast, reciprocation, consistency, authority, scarcity, conformity and liking). The book also features several quizzes, by-lines and diagrams to better illustrate the point. Oddly enough, the book ends with a chapter wherein an expected explanation on examples of influence and leadership goes awry and becomes a silly iconography of sorts.
That little biased narrative aside, Artful Persuasion is an informative book, even if it soon becomes apparent that there are no short cuts per se; just techniques that need to be learnt and practiced.
A bigger question, in the meanwhile, is the legitimacy of such techniques. You decide.

Good, yet lacking detail on some vital topics4
Like other books on the market, this book offers examples and case studies of successful professionals. Mills emphasizes the critical value of winning the attention of your audience or customer. Would like to have seen a bit more on developing the right verbal skills to permit one's message to be heard in a world where everything demands our attention.

Great book, easy read, very informative5
I was fascinated by this book because it goes into detail about body language and how each body part tells the real message behind what we feel (eyes, hands, legs, etc). It was an easy read too, so I couldn't put the book down. I found myself highlighting areas of interest. Get this book!

More than I expected5
When I read The Definitive Book of Body Language, I expected to read about crossed arms and legs, which way some one might be looking and so forth.
I didn't expect this to go into such depth. A very good read and very informative. The only thing that might improve this book is a chapter on how to defend yourself from used car salesmen and politicians, but that's being redundant.

Very Informative and Entertaining5
It's packed full of useful information presented in a light, funny style. This book added a whole new dimension to attending boring business meetings.
