Chronic Lyme Disease - Ways to Outsmart a Smart Disease

Review
This book is remarkable. Eighteen of the most popular antibiotic and non-antibiotic treatments for Lyme disease are explained clearly and precisely to the reader. The author details each treatment, enabling readers to make choices and be more in charge of healing their own illness. There are two especially important chapters on Emotional Health and Caregiving. Through her book you will have references to medical journals and websites. Gigi Guthrie's frustration with oral antibiotics not helping her son s debilitating Lyme symptoms led her to research further. Today, he is enjoying a Lyme symptom-free life again. The author's website, LymeCounseling.com, is very informative and helpful too. – K. Farrell, CT

Since Lyme disease is relatively under-researched, there are many different treatments, all with risks and side effects. This book will help the reader understand their options and discuss with their doctor the best plan of attack; it is a user-friendly manual explaining the different types of treatment for Lyme disease. Instead of a set regimen, it acts as a guide that allows the reader to take into account the pros and cons of each treatment, and decide what best suits the specific needs and situation of the individual. – K. Van Nest, CT

The problem nowadays in searching information, is where to start. Information is easily accessible, but the extent is vast, the quality unknown, and when you start looking on the web, you tend to read for hours without ending. Gigi's book is easy to read, covers all that a layperson needs to know about Lyme disease in order to understand the why and how of the most common treatments, and their pros and cons. The book provides facts in order that the patients and their caregivers are able to understand and interact with their medical doctors. As a RN, I often experienced that patients, under stress, are not always able to remember all the contents of the doctor's consultation. This book is a valuable supplement of reliable information. – C. Panning, R.N., CT
