Orthopedic Principles: A Resident's Guide
Product Description
There has been very rapid development in computing in recent years and this is now a general trend in the field of orthopedics. Orthopedic trauma is no exception, as there is much enthusiasm surrounding the use of surgical navigation in musculoskeletal trauma. In light of these developments, the successful first edition of this book has been revised and updated. A lot of new information has been added to the original chapter on CAOS (computer-aided orthopedic surgery). Also, as the WHO has published new guidelines on osteoporosis management, together with the many conceptual changes in this area, adding a chapter on osteoporosis is both timely and appropriate. A chapter on hip fracture rehabilitation has also become necessary, not only because it echoes the teachings of the chapter on osteoporosis, but also because of the projected exponential increase in the occurrence of this fracture by the year 2050.

Editorial Reviews
Review
From the reviews of the second edition:
"This excellent pocket handbook covers the entire field of orthopedic trauma. The purpose is to stimulate residents’ interest in modern orthopedic traumatology. The audience is primarily orthopedists in training, although the book may also be helpful as a guide or review for experienced surgeons. … All fractures/dislocations are covered, including hand, spine, and pediatric. This is an excellent clinical reference for residents working in a clinic or emergency room. … The references are adequate and provide a basis for further study." (Mark Gonzalez, Doody’s Review Service, August, 2008)

Customer Reviews
Excellent5
Liked it for it provides an
updated bird`s eye view of
the ever-changing subject of
modern trauma. Topics not
often touched adequately in thick
texts like high-energy trauma are
also covered. Seems high value for
money.
Up to Date and 'In-a-nutshell' Nice Book5
I do front line work, got confused by the changing
AO and other principles and the forever changing
implants. I like the Up-to-date and 'In-a nutshell'
type of book like this that high-light key points
rather than the boring huge texts used by me only
as references
Good Buy5
Just bought this book on line & already loving it,
it clarifies many things I don't know about trauma,
just like concepts of relative stability, gap healing,
mechanism of tensioned wires, science of fusion cages,
high energy trauma. Real fun & easy to read.
