Scholarly and practical5
I enjoyed this book immensely because it is both scholarly and practical. First Lisa breaks new ground in NLP by explicitly linking practice to underlying principles. Following that she discusses in considerable detail the relationship between neurolinguistic psychotherapy and other psychological theories and therapeutic approaches. She provides current neuroscientific support for neurolinguistic psychotherapy, along with explanations of the language components and the meaning of `programming' in neurolinguistic programming. There is a fascinating chapter on the variety of ways in which NLP can address deeply unconscious beliefs and unwanted emotions and thus can resolve developmental deficits. Throughout the book Lisa illustrates with case study vignettes and, in addition, she devotes a chapter to the actual practice of this mode of therapy. This is such a rich book that it invites careful and repeated reading. It will appeal to students, teachers, practitioners and researchers of NLP and change work.
